Sometimes the deepest meanings in tattoos can be found in the simplest of shapes. From ancient alchemy to modern day industry, simple shapes have been used to convey everything from feelings to formulas.

'A great advantage to shape tattoos is that they are relatively small (and therefore inexpensive), and can be placed in subtle and easy to conceal locations'.

'A disadvantage is that, unless the shape has an immediately recognizable meaning associated with it (e.g. the peace sign), most people will have no idea what you are trying to convey with your tattoo'.
